5 THINGS YOU WANT US TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR IMMEDIATE FAMILY

I don’t feel too guilty about my “guilty pleasure” because I believe everyone needs time to rest and recharge on a regular basis. I treasure the 45 minutes I spend getting a manicure every other week. I turn off my phone and soak up the pampering. Every time I see my nicely painted nails, I’m reminded that I have value and can’t put “me time” at the bottom of my to-do list.

People may be surprised to know that I should be two inches taller! I have scoliosis, so standing tall with poise isn’t something I’ve always done. I was diagnosed at 14 and wore a brace for eighteen months. Although the brace was under my clothes, it was still noticeable and negatively affected my confidence. I’m thankful my condition didn’t worsen, and grateful for the constant reminder that we each have challenges to overcome.

My favorite color is blue because it reminds me of the beautiful crystal water of Lake Tahoe. Growing up, Lake Tahoe was where, in the summer, I would collect crawdads from the shore with my sisters and where, in the winter, we learned to ski. Today, it is where we watch our children play with their cousins and enjoy fish tacos on the patio, watching the sun set over the deep blue water.

I had my first run down the ski slopes at the age of four and I’ve been hooked ever since. I have fond memories of learning at ski school and love passing those skills on to my sons. Zayne and Gage were adorable riding up the lift for the first time. Spending time skiing, tubing and warming up with hot cocoa on our annual ski trip is something our family looks forward to every winter.
